FXO and FXS Parameters

The general FXO and FXS parameters are described in the table below.

General FXO and FXS Parameters

Parameter

Description

'Update Port Info'

configure voip > interface fxs-fxo > port-info

[AnalogPortInfo_x]

Defines a descriptive name for an analog port. This can be used to easily identify the port.

The valid value is a string of up to 40 characters. By default, the value is undefined.

Note:

For the ini file parameter, the x denotes the port number.
To configure a port description through the Web interface, see Configuring Name for Telephony Ports.

FXS Parameters

'FXS Coefficient Type'

configure voip > interface fxs-fxo > fxs-country-coefficients

[FXSCountryCoefficients]

Defines the FXS line characteristics (AC and DC) according to USA or Europe (TBR21) standards.

[66] Europe = TBR21
[70] USA = (Default) United States

Note: For the parameter to take effect, a device restart is required.

[EnhancedFXSLineCurrent]

Defines the FXS off-hook current, which is the current that the device supplies to the analog line when it is in off-hook state.

[0] = (Default) 25 mA
[1] = 35 mA

Note:

You can only apply an off-hook current of 35 mA to the first and last ports of each FXS connector (i.e., FXS ports 1 and 24, FXS ports 25 and 48, and FXS ports 49 and 72). All the other FXS ports have a fixed current of 25 mA.
If you want to configure all the first and last ports of all the FXS connectors with an off-hook current of 35 mA, configure the parameter globally:

EnhancedFXSLineCurrent = 1

If you want to configure only specific FXS ports (first and/or last) with an off-hook current of 35 mA, the first port of the first FXS connector of FXS Blade 1 (Slot 1 - S1) is denoted as "0" and the last port as "23". For the first port of the next FXS connector, simply increment the previous last port by 1 (i.e., "24") and add 23 to it for the last port (i.e., "47"), and so on.

For example:

For the FXS connector labeled FXS 1-24 on FXS Blade 1 (in Slot 1), use "0" to denote the first port and "23" the last port.
For the FXS connector labeled with FXS 25-48 on FXS Blade 1 (in Slot 1), use "24" to denote the first port and "47" the last port.
For the FXS connector labeled with FXS 49-72 on FXS Blade 1 (in Slot 1), use "48" to denote the first port and "71" the last port.
For the FXS connector labeled FXS 1-24 on FXS Blade 2 (in Slot 2), use "72" to denote the first port and "95" the last port.
and so on.

EnhancedFXSLineCurrent_0 = 1 ; Port 1 on FXS Blade 1

EnhancedFXSLineCurrent_23= 1 ; Port 24 on FXS Blade 1

EnhancedFXSLineCurrent_24 = 1 ; Port 25 on FXS Blade 1

EnhancedFXSLineCurrent_47 = 1 ; Port 48 on FXS Blade 1

EnhancedFXSLineCurrent_48 = 1 ; Port 49 on FXS Blade 1

EnhancedFXSLineCurrent_71 = 1 ; Port 72 on FXS Blade 1

EnhancedFXSLineCurrent_72 = 1 ; Port 1 on FXS Blade 2

EnhancedFXSLineCurrent_95 = 1 ; Port 24 on FXS Blade 2

For the parameter to take effect, a device restart is required.

[EnableTrapezoidRing]

Some old phones might require higher ringing voltage to operate correctly. In this case, configure the [EnableTrapezoidRing] accordingly. The device generates a 75Vrms sinusoidal voltage instead of 54Vrms.

[0] = (Default) Disable. A 54Vrms sinusoidal ringing voltage is generated.
[1] = Enable. A 75Vrms sinusoidal ringing voltage is generated.

Note:

You can configure this parameter to [1] for no more than six ports per FXS connector segment.
For the parameter to take effect, a device restart is required.
A segment is a group of 12 FXS ports. Each D-Sub (or Telco) connector includes two segments: 1-12 and 13-24. Each segment can support up to six concurrent high voltage (HI-V) ringing ports. The extra calls (on the 7th, 8th,… ports) will be rejected with a 503 (Service Unavailable) SIP response and a PSTN release cause code 43 (Access information discarded).
For trapezoid ringing, if you have also enabled emergency calling on a port segment, the segment is limited to five waveform ringing.

[EnablePulseDialDetection]

Enables the device to detect pulse (rotary) dialing from analog equipment (e.g., telephones) connected to the device's FXS port interfaces.

[0] = Disable (default)
[1] = Enable

Note: For the parameter to take effect, a device restart is required.

configure voip > interface fxs-fxo > fxs-line-test-max-duration

[FxsLineTestMaxDurationSec]

Defines the maximum allowed duration (in seconds) for FXS line testing.

If the test completes within the configured duration, the device reports "success". If the test exceeds the configured duration, the device reports "failure timeout".

The valid value range is 0 to 100. The default is 11.

For more information on FXS line testing, see FXS Line Testing.
